Today marks one week of marriage for Cole and I. As I reflect on the truly magical night we shared with our family and friends last Friday, I feel so grateful for the ladies of Dove Hollow Estate, LLC.
Madlyn Lackey, a wife and mother with gorgeous red hair, co-owns Dove with her sister Natalie Calloway, who was the first Bride married inside the white-washed barn. After coming across an ad on Instagram in mid 2017, before the barn stood complete with all her gorgeous geometrically intriguing windows and chandeliers, I began following the journey.
I watched a video of Natalie white-washing the window sills. I watched Madlyn shovel red dirt as the pair finished up the understated, but beautiful landscaping. I watched them share Natalie’s bridal portraits and shots of her wedding. I watched them grow a large and loyal following, full of beautiful Texas brides. And I patiently waited for my own moment.
The pair’s mother raises white doves at her home, and Madlyn & Natalie both have dove tattoos, to represent their bond to each other, their mother, and their families. So Dove Hollow is the sweetest, sentimental name for their venue nestled in the woods.
They credit their success to prayer, long hours, their ability to perform physical labor, fighting through sleepless nights, and incredible support from their families. They spend many hours showing off the venue to hopeful and wide-eyed couples. They spend many Saturdays at bridal shows & expos. They spend even more time managing their social media pages. And now Madlyn even runs a coordination service, MadLove Events, out of Dove.
After Cole proposed in late December 2017, I told my mom about Dove – how beautiful she is, how Madlyn & Natalie put their souls into bringing her to life, and how close she is to our house! We booked a tour before even attending a single bridal event or checking out our options. When we pulled onto the property in January 2018, we were absolutely blown away. I had chills. And not just because it was 38 degrees. We were warmly greeted by Natalie, and I was so awe-struck that I took a few moments to gather my thoughts and begin asking all the necessary questions.
From the website, I already knew of the 225 beautiful tolix chairs offered by Dove, as well as the many tables and gorgeously furnished bridal suite & groom’s lounge. I also knew the pricing, but we needed to talk about weather contingency plans, overage fees, preferred vendors + associated discounts, as well as parking, security, and rehearsal/set-up times. So. Many. Things. But Madlyn and Natalie are great communicators, and much of this info is now transparently laid out on their website.
Part of what I love most about Dove, truly, is her owners. Madlyn and Natalie take out trash. They clean and mop the entire space before and after each event. They weed-eat, put out mulch, blow off the long porch, and are in constant contact with the brides they serve!
We hired Madlyn as the Day-of-Coordinator and I could not have been happier with that decision. After planning the entire wedding by myself, having her reach out to vendors to arrange arrival times, and ensure a smooth ceremony was so wonderful.
Not having to worry on the best, most beautiful day of my life was a blessing. I don’t use that word lightly…Madlyn helped my mom get me buttoned into my dress, she helped pack up boxes of rentals at the end of the night – and she threw together a sweet bouquet for my memorial table that I had forgotten to order florals for. She was amazing.
Every detail of this barn was hand-chosen by these sweet sister bosses. Both Madlyn and Natalie have been brides within the last 5 years and vividly recall the stress of wedding planning, and Madlyn says that the pair can relate to their couples in passionately crafting and curating the details that make the day so special.
For brides in the area, tomorrow, January 5, from 2-5 p.m. the ladies of Dove Hollow Estate are hosting the first open-house of the year. They’ll serve appetizers, champagne, sangria, and sweets for you to enjoy while mingling with local vendors and touring the space. This is an event you do not want to miss – every couple who attends the event receives $250 toward their dream wedding at Dove!
I hope you’ve enjoyed this post as much as I enjoyed writing it – my wedding was a complete fantasy fleshed out to reality and would not have been possible without Madlyn, Natalie, and their eye for whimsical details.
Their venue, tucked neatly into the Piney Woods of East Texas, Dove Hollow Estate, could not be more perfect.
