    Christmas Traditions, old + new

Yesterday morning, my family of four piled into the truck and hit I-20 to West Monroe, Louisiana. Angel is home for a bit before her next phase of treatment in Houston, so my mom and cousin worked to plan a surprise Christmas celebration for her. If you read my Thanksgiving post, you know holidays have been different this year, but nothing will stop us from being together. Our traditions continued, and I’m so excited to share them with you! 1. Photos by the Tree Typically, we set plans for Christmas while we’re all together for Thanksgiving. This year’s gathering was more impromptu, so we’re missing a few folks! 2. Gingerbread…

Letters to the Bride- Loving when it’s Hard

Today, in the latest installment of the Letters to the Bride series, my friend Pharryn is sharing some wisdom after being married for four years! I’ve loved this so much and I’m so thankful to everyone who’s participated! Pharryn is a momma, wife and Junior High teacher living out in the ‘burbs of Houston. She thrives off of Jesus, caffeine, and reruns of The Office! Being a new mom, she wanted to seek a way to get her thoughts and experiences out there to share with other new mommas for encouragement, so she created bambiandcompany.com to do just that! It’s been a fun endeavor so far and she loves getting to meet…

Holiday Parties, without the Egg Nog

I’ve filmed the video explaining what led me to stop drinking alcohol, and I’m in the final process of editing – so it’ll probably be up tonight! In the meantime, I thought we could talk a bit about making it through this season without drinking, if you’re feeling bold, or just drinking less! I’ll preface with this – there is absolutely nothing wrong with drinking responsibly, and I so admire those who can do so. Okay, let’s dive in. Last year, I was listening to a nutrition podcast where they discussed various ways of staying on track during the holidays. The number one tip they gave? Staying away from, or…

Letters to the Bride – Quality Time

As we draw nearer to the wedding, just 8 days away now, my friend Jo brings us the next letter in the To The Bride series. Tonight, she’ll cover the importance of quality time. This is perfect for us because Cole’s job keeps him away from home so often that we really strive to make the most of the time that we do have together. Jo lives in and loves her home town of Houston. She is a project manager by day and a gal that is always looking for a laugh and a creative outlet (i.e. blogger) in her spare time. She has a love of travel, is fond…

Letters to the Bride – Newlywed Life

We’re only 11 days away from the wedding, and my friend Lindsey is sharing the next installment of the Letters to the Bride series. Last time, my friend Mariesha covered the topic of forgiveness, and tonight we’ll talk about life as a newlywed. Lindsey and her husband Isaac Spear live outside of Raleigh, NC. They married on June 2, 2018, after meeting in the spring of 2011. You can follow them on Instagram to keep up with all their sweet adventures! To the Bride, Some people say the first year of marriage is the hardest because you are seeing first hand each other’s quirks etc, but Isaac and I were…

Hannah Rachel Boutique Try-On & Review

If you follow me on Instagram, you’re familiar with the shopping haul videos I post in my stories. But after connecting with the family behind Hannah Rachel Boutique, I wanted to give y’all more than a quick try-on session. I wanted to share the heart and story behind this shop that makes it so special.   The three pieces I’ll review here are the top shown above, the vest shown below, and a tie-front dress. I received a medium in each item, and they all fit true to size. They arrived quickly, and came in cute packaging with a hand-written note! I was very pleased. The vest shown here is…

Guide to The Emerald City as told by The Future Embertons

On August 21, 2017, my 22nd birthday, and the 4th birthday that I spent with Cole, he surprised me with two plane tickets. For years, I’d dreamed of going to the rainy coffee capital of the country, and the backdrop of the Twilight movies, Seattle. Four months later, after my last final, we watched YouTube videos on how to pack for a week in a carry-on, and made our way to DFW. Together, we navigated the airport, successfully found our terminal and boarded the plane. I hadn’t flown in over five years, but I was uncharacteristically calm as the plane took off and we climbed to cruising altitude. Stepping off…

Letters to The Bride – Forgiveness

In just 28 short days, I will wake up as Aubren Martin for the last time. I’ll have my face done up, my hair blown out, and I’ll wear the most beautiful dress I own. I’ll walk down the stairs, through the venue, and across the lawn to meet the love of my life in front of the tree we’ll get married under. In just 28 short days, I will become Mrs. Aubren Emberton. In celebration, some of my married blogger friends have written letters to me. First up are some words on forgiveness by my sweet friend Mariesha. She lives in the Denver suburbs with her husband and their…

Tis the Season to get Sick

Disclaimer: This post contains affiliate links, meaning that if you choose to shop the products, I will earn a small commission at no additional cost to you. I so appreciate your support! If you follow me on Instagram, you know I had to miss Thanksgiving in Houston with my family because I suddenly became ill the day we were supposed to leave. Like, we were literally packed in the car, on the road, when I spiked a fever. And for most families, this wouldn’t be an issue. A little cold is nothing to fear. But things are different for us. Anytime we visit Angel in Houston, we have to be …
